MELISSA MCLANEY TO REPRESENT "ALABAMA" IN THE
"MRS. AMERICA" COMPETITION
BIRMINGHAM, AL - June 20, 2009 ---
Melissa McLaney of Dothan was crowned Mrs. Alabama America 2009 on Saturday night. The pageant took place at the Wright Center Concert Hall on the campus of Samford University. Mrs. McLaney competed with other married women from across the state of Alabama in beauty, poise and personality, swimsuit and evening gown competitions for the title. She and her husband Frankie are the proud parents of a 6 year old son named Grayton.
As one of her prizes, Melissa will receive an expense paid trip to represent Alabama in the MRS. AMERICA COMPETITION at the exclusive Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona which will be held on September 8, 2009. There she will compete for the title of MRS. AMERICA with contestants from all fifty states and the District of Columbia. The new MRS. AMERICA will then go on to represent the country in the MRS. WORLD Pageant which will be held in November 2009 in Vietnam, Ba Ria - Vung Tau..
"I think Melissa is a great representative for today’s married woman and I look forward to working with her this year, " said Rhonda Garrett Gilliam, Executive Director, of the Mrs. Alabama America Pageant snce 1991.
Final Results:
First Runner Up and Mrs. Photogenic: Jennifer Beaver from Trussville will assume the duties of Mrs. Alabama America 2009 if for some reason Melissa McLaney cannot fulfill her responsibilities.
She was also chosen by the judges as "Mrs Photogenic. This Award exemplifies beauty through the lens of a camera.
Second Runner Up and Mrs Congeniality:
Julie Purinton from Tuscaloosa. She was also chosen "Mrs. Congeniality". This award reflects the respect and admiration of the delegate’s peers, who voted for her as the most congenial, charismatic and inspirational participant.
Third Runner Up:
Jessica Kirkes from Birmingham
Fourth Runner Up:
Ryan Green from Homewood
Remainder of Top Eight: Natalie Gould from Chelsea, Jessica Welch from Odenville and Curtia Moon from Rockford.
